Pygmy Lizard Care
General Facts
This amazing small arboreal lizard species is from the cooler cloud forests of Sri Lanka. This species is very active, but slower moving which makes them great to interact with. These lizards only reach about 3" and has similar care to other cool climate lizards, but is fairly hardy comparably!
Diet
We feed our Pygmy lizards gut loaded crickets with a supplement rotation of calcium without D3 and Earthpro - both are arcadia supplements. You can also rotate in flies or mealworms! Babies will need fruit flies or crickets.
Cage Setup
Firstly, full bioactive enclosures with a drainage layer and vines or small plants. We start our babies together in 12x12x18 but suggest adults be bred in 18x18x24 cages! We also recommend daily misting as well as hand misting to make sure that these are properly hydrated. Pro tip: use leaf litter on the bottom to help prevent consuming soil during feeding.
Lighting & Conditions
Remember that Cophotis are cooler climate geckos and do well in temeratures 68°F to 75° for ambient. We recommend not including heat elements or heat bulbs. 6% UVB lighting is a great way to provide a gentle heat gradient for thermoregulation.
