The Rameshwaram Ornamental Tarantula, or Poecilotheria hanumavilasumica, is an Old World arboreal tarantula named for Rameshwaram Island in India and the rarest species in the entire genus. It's sometimes mistaken for P. regalis in photos, but the resemblance doesn't hold up in person. Adults carry a beautiful mix of purple, yellow, and white, a brighter yellow overall than P. striata, with legs heavily banded in ivory and yellow, orange highlights on the front legs, and purple hues across the femurs and carapace alongside yellow coloration on the carapace, abdomen, and legs. The underside carries its own contrast, bright yellow with black banding on the front legs and white on the back legs.
